Carb was much cheaper for me, also carbs almost always make more power than a comparable fi setup due to the atomization of the fuel in the Plenum further cooling the intake charge thus allowing more timing.

A blow through carb on E85 will prolly make more power compared to a OEM style intake on a EFI motor. When you put a bad *** sheetmetal intake on it with the injectors higher up on the runners than squirting at the back of the valve you can get close to a carb peak wise.

EFI in most testing has shown to make more power in the mid range though and can adjust for weather, load, and other variances but it's cost and wiring complexity can scare people away a lot of times. It's up to the end user and what they feel comfortable doing and spending to make power.
