Keep your heads, those are great heads, and keep your intake and tb, just change the cam to a 'turbo' cam not just a boost cam, make sure it's a turbo grind.

Some just take a cam that is labeled generically as a boost cam and think it will work perfect in the set-up and then when it wont spool down low or doesn't do what they want it to they ask why.

That cam you have will work of course, but I'd look for a smaller single pattern or even reverse grind cam with a wider lsa for a turbo application. Just taking a look at my cam or some of VA speeds cams can give you a good idea on what works well in a turbo app. Also Speed Inc. makes some good turbo grinds.

You can pick up an LS2 pretty cheap. A friend of mine got a longblock off of here with a spun bearing for $1200

Can't believe that this thread was started. The element of surprise is only good once. Anyway.....good idea on the turbo deal. 5.3 blocks are cheap and can be bored to LS1 size; but I am sure that someone surely has a 6.0L for sale in your area. If I was in your spot I would think about doing a iron block with your heads, forged pistons, good rods, stock polished crank, truck manifolds, and a simple starter set-up. Your transmission is good property right now and it's sale would go a long way toward a TH400. The 10Bolt is pretty much going to be toast.

Depends on the engine, where the power is made, and how efficient the overall turbo hot side is from a back pressure stand point. You will see reverse split mentioned a lot of times and in essence that style of cam is used to increase the exhaust energy applied to the turbine wheel as well as help ward off exhaust gas reversion due to high back pressure on the exhaust side. Power band, cylinder pressure, etc. all come in to play as well. I do not think that your current cam will run bad; but the entire combo might gain from a custom grind or a more turbo friendly grind later down the road. Things like this are better left to real cam experts or engine builders than forum opinion poll as every detail counts and what one guy heard works in his buddies cousin's car might not work the same in yours. Just an IMO comment.

So very true on the custom grind comment. Call Geoff@EPS or PatrickG on here or talk to Virginia Speed. They could recommend you a grind that will make your combo really shine.

There is a motor for sale in the parts classified that has not been used and the guy can't afford a boosted setup so he is selling the motor for I think 3750. His name on here is flyin. Its a 347 boosted motor.

Good choice on the ls2 block. Look at AES Racing for a good rotating assembly. They have a setup that has CP boost piston and it ends up being a 385 cu in. The rotating assembly is already balanced and its 1995.00 for it.

You might want to consider a short block built for your end goals or at least make sure that the components are correct for what you are wanting to do. The machine work and assembly is just as important as the components that go into the short-block. Would you run a mail order tune in the car after you get it done? Mail order machine work can be the same way if you are not careful in your choices.

yeah, its setting at my friends shop. ive spent $0.00 on it so far lol. i bought a truck before my car went down, it was wrecked and ive been spending money getting it back together. im driving it now, but may have to sell it if i want to buy another block and do a nasty build. I dont really want to as its nice to have something new, nice, roomie and 4x4 to drive (08 silverado crew cab). I got tired of driving the camaro for 6 years. I also had a daughter on 10/30/11 so a truck also comes in handy. tax money should be here soon, so maybe something will happen here quick. the more i think about it though, the more i really dont know what to do with this thing. i may change my mind and just put good rods / pistons in it and a good turbo and use my stock block and a stock crank and go from there. money really isnt that plentiful right now lol. ive sold my old cam, headers, and one of my nitrous kits. ive still got another one im trying to get rid of.

ive seen people go plenty fast using stock block / crank, and im beginning to think that its fast enough for me. so thats why a 347 is looking more appealing than some bigger cube build.

I just bought a 2000 model white Camaro roller from a shop down around the Branson area. It was a stalled forced induction project that I was able to pick up pretty cheap.
