Default is a 600+ turbo car good for a DD?

Looking at either a turbo or a stroked build. I put about 4-5k on my car during the summer. Just wondering how much the care the turbo would need. I don't wanna change plugs and oil all the time. If I went turbo it would be at least 600 at the wheels. So if I drive my car a lot and don't race that much, would I be better off going with a stroker motor?

I say turbo, it'll be pretty mild when you're just cruising and get decent gas milage (if that even matters to you) And then it'll get wild once you're in boost. My Formula is a blast to drive and i love the sound of a straight race inspired idle and chop, but it does get annoying on longer drives.

Turbo for sure. The powers only there when you put your foot in it. While a stroker motor its extra cubes all the time.

I usually drive mine at least 1 day during the week and on most weekends. I put 5K on my car last year. I'm making 750 with a turbo. As long as you build the drive train you should be ok.

Mine is a DD, rain or shine.
It is approaching below freezing at night here in IL and still drive mine.
I am running low 11's at over 130 MPH....so at least 600 RWHP.
Oh, I am not nice to it when I go to work...it always gets a good trashing!

In any high performance build you should be changing oil and plugs regularly.....but as far as street manners and issues, I drove my 600+rwhp as my DD for months with no issues. Drives like a baby out of boost.

I'm at 550 at the wheels and it has been on 3 power tours with no problems. If i stay out of it I get almost 26mpg on the interstate.

Forgot 2 mention that was letting out before the traps due to maxing the injectors out @ the top of third. 1/8th mile was 6.5 @ 111mph, and still on stock suspension other than chassis torque arm, 10 bolt included lol. So basically a 9 second street car where it is, and no telling how deep it will get on 18psi next spring

Ditto on the Turbo. I had a 383 solid roller before this and it had a hellacious lovely lope but it drank gas, stank up the place and I had to pop the valve covers occasionally to check the lash. After a lifter let go, taking out the motor, I went to a single front mount TC76. My god what a fun but completely civil car. I have driven it in traffic jams in Houston Tx in the middle of the summer, blasted it on street contests, commuted between Rochester and Albany, drag raced it at the strip and it does everything with ease. I just put 93 octane pump gas in it (no meth/alky/water needed) and use a mail order tune from PCMforless. I daily drive it and it is as solid as an anvil. As others mentioned, get your driveline in shape for it (and drag radials, hehehe) and you'll love the turbo incarnation.

Let this be motivation... after driving around for 3 hours i made some part throttle pulls and threw a video together. your biggest enemy if you go front mount will be keeping it cool but a nice fan/radiator setup will take care of it, before this vid i couldnt get into boost without it climbing into the 230's. now it stays in the 180's and tops out in the 205 range after a boost pull

What did you use to help keep the temps down under 200? What were you previously using that wasnt working well?

Also, is ur back passenger wheel wobbling in the video or is there just something on the tire making it appear that way? Seems to be more apparent towards the end of the video. Id check it out, esp driving at those speeds.

Yeah, with a turbo it can be bone stock and make 600 rwhp. Just change the springs and the pushrods. You could forge the entire bottom end, leave the stock cam and basically you end up with stock drivability.
