I also racked up many of those miles on the highway, over long trips. I dont normally drive like an a-hole either(not saying you do)
Ive used totally bald MT's at the strip a couple of times. Although as you dont know how close you are to breaking through, and the carcass is so thin, I wouldnt trust them. Especially for racing.

And exactly like was said above, no john force burnouts haha. I mean Nittos arent great drag radials if you need serious traction. They definitely hold well when warm but they still have their limit. M/Ts are much much better but i wanted life out of mine and thats why i go with the nittos
