coated bearings?
Coated bearings aren't necessary but provide cheap insurance for start ups and in situations where maybe the tune gets missed a little bit causing some detonation which can squeeze the oil wedge out between the crank journal and bearing. Don't look for the .0005" thick coating to save your engine if the tune is out alot. It serves a purpose, but not like you would think.
They don't add alot of initial cost to the build......However, there have been plenty of Big HP engines built for years without them that live just fine. If you have the extra cash get them, if not, don't lose sleep over it. Just my opinion.
