Thumbs up What size turbo???

I'm in the process of putting to together a single turbo kit, and I'm needing to know the specs on the turbo. From what I've read it seems to be a T 76, but is that what I need. I'm only going to be running about 9 psi total throught an intercooler. I've got a friend that has a hook up on turbo's and he has a twin turbo mustang, so he's going to be helping me. Also where is a good place to get stainless headers, I'm only going to need one header, b/c I'm going to design the kit like QMP uses, I'm just locating the turbo in a different location.

Thanks Trey

I don't have a specific answer for you, but I'm currently putting together a twin setup for my grand sport. I've got quite a bit of help from a book called "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. I saw it mentioned quite a bit on this forum, so I picked it up from amazon.com. You might want to check it out, it gives you the information you need to design your kit and select the proper parts to meet your goals. I'm not sure how many responses you'll get to your question, it's a pretty broad topic with respect to your motor and your goal for the car. If you give Maximum Boost a read, you can probably come back with more specific questions and get better response.

My two cents,

Dan

That book is loaded with info, but some aspects may be a tad dated with regard to some newer technology, but ALL the basics and formulas are there... Call limit Engineering for good instruction on sizing...do web search.

The T76 would be your best bet. It should be able to reach 700-800rwhp without to much fuss.

If all you are ever going to see is 9 psi you might like a 70 or a 72 a little better. The map for the 76 doesnt start making power until the 12-13 psi range. The 70 and 72 are still ten second turbos.
