LT1 12.1 CR Boost??

LT1 12.1 CR Boost?? Purchased a 396 shortblock sometime last year. Assy will go underway soon. I've seriously considered getting rid of the nitrous and going with a Vortech.
My main concerns are boost + 12.1 CR.
Will 93 octane be ok with this? What kind of boost should I expect to feed a shortblock with that much pressure.
I keep being told(by one person) I'll have to run some sort of race fuel or E85 for this set up.
Is 12.1 CR + boost + 93 Not ideal?
My heads and Cam are not get finished so those items can be adjusted to the setup still.
