Default Turbo or whipple

Looking into doing a turbo or whipple set up on my bone stock camaro. Ive looked around a lot and it seems that the only turbo kit i can get that retains the AC and alternator is a sts kit. But after hearing some of the horror stories im a little weiry of the sts system. But have thought of using the sts everything from sts except the turbo and oiling system, and using a self contained turbo. Anybody heard of anything like this being done? And is it worth trying?

I also looked on whipples site saw their set up and like it. But have searched around and havent found many f-bodys with a whipple set up. Anybody have this set up?

I'm looking forward to KYTP in the future, but by all means...install a Whipple and do a write up and show me how it's done!

On whipples site it says their kit will work on an ls1? If i do a supercharger id rather not have a centrifigal set up. After riding in a ZR1 i really like the idea of a roots blower.

http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/...sp?ProdID=1230

Im starting to lean towards a kytp 76mm kit. Im wanting to be around 500rwhp, its a stock bottom end car and up until a few weeks ago my only intent was bolt ons, clutch and rear end. I want to keep the car comfortable very driveable and not change too much internally. Valve springs are obvious to change, but other than that id like to keep it fairly simple to return to stock form.

If you look at the whipple though its an off-road only set up amd on our fbodys there is no way to fit that in there. Plus are throttle bodys are on the front and the one off the whipple is on the side, fbodys have a belt driven whipple. look into magna charger. or This place has a set up for the fbodys.

Give CBR Performance a call Chris will hook you up on his f2 twin system. Thats the route i'm going. A/C is still retained. My car is heading down there as we speak lol.

Yep you are correct and getting back to the thread whipplecharger or turbo i thought about doing the whipple first but that was soon deflaited when i learned you'd have to cut the cowl to make it fit and that was not an option for me so i went the turbo route instead. But everybody is not so scared in doing that so i wish you luck in your decision

Well that settles it, not cutting the cowl on my car. Now to decide what turbo set up to use, twins or single.

i would stay with a single, that will still make you a ton of power, but you really need to tell us a budget so we can tell you some good options, going fi can kill a budget fast , how much power are you looking for? forged motor ? etc

Im looking for about 500 rwhp this is a 25k mile bone stock motor. Id like the set up to make power early in the rpms. I dont want to change too much internally, except valve springs, clutch and rear end. As far as budget, im willing to spend about 5500 to 6000 on just the turbo set up. Willing spend the extra for the other stuff needed. I want the car to be fairly easy to return to stock form incase i ever decide i want to put it back stock. I just want a fun streetable car thats pretty fast and i can play with at the track and on the street.

Honestly 5-6 k is a pretty small budget for a quality set up , if you did all the work your self and did really good shopping on parts you can pull it off , there's tons of little odds and ends that add up very quickly
If I knew how much I end up spending and all the work that I had to put in for my lol budget turbo system , I would have probably spent the extra few grand on the f2 kit from modular turbo
