Default air inlet temp sensor

I am having a new pipe made for my car which is speed density tuned. I am using the mass air now and now want to use a air inlet temp sensor. Whch one should I use and what is the best place to pit it?

You can use the factory sensor and grommet unless it has to be for boost then I recomend to Drill and tap a hole to 9/16. Use GM25036751 or wells SU127, your welcome...

I too am using the factory style IAT sensor. Will the rubber grommet really not hold up to boost?

I wouldn't trust any rubber grommets personally but I've never tried using them with boost

Damn...I always wondered about it personally. Guess I'm going to have to mess up my nice painted piping to weld a bung in now!

I run the stock rubber grommet and sensor in a stainless steel pipe at 16 psi with no issues.

No need to weld. I purchased the sensor, a 3/8 NPT nut, and rubber washers for under $20.

I was advised by my tuner to use the threaded one to eliminate any worries of it being blown out under boost. All I can say is the threaded one wont, jk...

Good info here. I used the rubber grommit and I've seen close to 15psi without issue, but just in case, it's good to have this as a reference.
