317 heads on stock bottom end?

Default 317 heads on stock bottom end?

Okay guys im new to ls1 tech and having a horrible debate with myself trying to figure out what i should do. Maybe some of you guys can help me out without all the b.s from the corvette forum . Ive got a 98 c5 corvette with 90k miles on the odometer with all the bolt ons ,ecs blower cam,and the a&a vortec supercharger kit at 8-9psi.I'm debating on one of the 2 options listed below.

1. take my crappy heads off and replace them with ported 317 heads to lower compression ,add a 3.4 pulley to raise boost to around 11 psi ,and tune with race gas.

2. leave the car like it is right now at 460rwhp and find a block to start a new build on that will let me reach my power goals in a more expensive but more reliable manner lol. any other ideas are appreciated as well. thanks in advance

Might as well do it right the first time. Use your LS1 block, add some good rods and a set of DISHED pistons to lower CR. If you have E85 you can keep a bit higher CR and run more boost. Then if you want get some ported 243 heads or ported 317s later down the road to help with power.

You could do the 317 heads, add meth injection, pulley up and make your power goal,
although anything over 500 rwhp can be a crap shoot on a std bottom end.

If you want reliable, build a forged short block.

just turn the boost up and hope for the best...... oh and your still not going to out run me, take that black vett home. call me i can get you a 408 kit cheap

lol poor livingood always trying to keep up with daddy lol .. get your junk fixed and we will see !! either way anybody else got any ideas?

look at unleased perfomance he just built a fi car that made 810 whp on a cam only motor and daily drives it,. i would just do the 317s and find a damn good tuner.
