Default Turbo 5.3

Alright...like many others Im think Im gonna build a turbo 5.3. I will give you a little run down. I already have a 5.3 with 127,xxx miles. It was pulled from my dads tahoe. Motor ran great. My dad is a tig welder/fabricator so he will be doing all the piping. I want to leave the motor fairly stock to keep it on a budget. I was thinking about using 317 heads, LS6 valve springs, and a LS6 or LS9 cam. I want to get an s480 turbo. I want to run as much boost as possible. Since it is a budget build I wont mind to much if the engine blows up, but i dont want it to get to that point. I just want to push its limits. Any comments or recommendations?

I would leave the stock 5.3 heads and get a used ls6 can... the s480 is a good choice I'm going to run the same Turbo..... need more specs what car you using, drag car, street car?

It will more than likely be going into a 98-02 camaro as there are a few I have my eyes on. I want it to be a weekend street car with the occasional trip to the track. I already have the engine, my dad will fab up the hot side piping along with the intercooler piping, and I forgot to mention I have a freshly rebuilt powerglide sitting in the garage waiting for the right project (just needs the correct bell housing). Like I said I want to push the limits of this build...if it blows up...it blows up.

if you use the 317 heads your Compression will be low and you wont like the ""out of boost " performance...I am going to use the 317 heads and mill them down to get close to stock comression ratio, unless i find out the 317 heads dont flow well, then the stockers will stay...

317 is the same casting as a 243 with the exception of having larger chambers.... they flow well
