Question about tuning before startup
Question about tuning before startup My project is starting to draw near to the finish line and I have a question about getting it tuned. I have it set up for an SD tune when it's all said and done but right now the tune is just the bolt-on MAF tune it had when it was just a header car. Since then the motor has been forged with dished pistons and will be packing the turbo and a meth/water injection kit as well. Also have twin fuel pumps and 60lb HI injectors.
My question is, will I be able to even start it with all of this before a tune? I would really like to fire it up and idle it to check all of the oil lines, fuel lines, etc... before taking it to the tuner. Or is this something that would be too risky? If needed, I can wait to start it until I get it to the tuner and get everything hooked up there but I would like to at least get the basics checked out before hauling the car up. Think I would be alright doing this or should I hold off until the tuning begins?

Without the inj constant being set, I'd leave the start til it's got a tuner hooked up, and the base S/D tune installed.
The fuel system could be checked by triggering the pump, and looking for leaks, checking the 2nd pump activation wiring, etc.
The meth kit is best run w/ meth... Forget the H2O. That system should be tuned once the baseline tune if found to be good..
Your tuner capable of flashing his base, S/D tune in, B4 the final tune? If so, and you can get it done that way, I'd think you could go ahead and start it..NO BOOST, NO METH!

Thanks guys. Only problem is my tuner is about 150 miles away 
I'll just tow it up there and have him put the base tune on it. Then start it up and check it there.

i drove my car 50 miles to the tuner on stock injectors. i had to drive like a grandma but my tuner said itd be fine. when i got there, we put in my injectors, and he threw in a base tune before he started it with the new injectors.
