Default 5.3/6.0 twin turbo (looking for pointers)

Hey guys,

Newbie here and looks like the found the right place. I am building a 66 c-10. Doing a full front and read porterbuilt suspension. And plan on throwing in a 5.3/6.0 ls(x) motor. I would like like to turbo this as well.

The questions come in at this point, I am good with suspensions but not the best when it comes to motors.

What have you guys found to be the best platform for turbos the iron block 6.0 or aluminum 5.3?

How does the 4l60e hold up?

any specific detailed builds you can point me in the direction of?

all input is welcome and i would appreciate y'all catching me up to speed

Depends on your expectations.... Hp? Drivability, ECT! But there are some narly 5.3s and very cheap to build. But i'd diffinatly stay away for 4l60e tranny though...

I am building this truck to second my daily. Very street little strip. Would love to take it to a few auto cross events and just a fun weekly/weekend wheeler. Its going in a 66 c-10 so no need to try and pretend is gonna be a track killer. Just wanna shoot for the 500hp+ range, with reliability.

6.0L with a moderate turbo. That will get you great response with little to no lag and an easy 500+ wheel hp. And I agree with staying away from the 4L60. Spring for a well prepped 4L80 and don't worry about it any more.

Aluminum block 5.3 (L33 out of a 2005-07 Silverado). It has the 24x crank sensor and you can run the cheap 99-02 computer and harness. It also has 9.9 to 1 compression to help off boost low speed power.

Use a smallish turbo such as a Turbonetics TC76. No need for twins unless you HAVE to have them for just looks. A used Master Power T70 with a .96 or 1.0 Ar, a Precison 7675 with .96AR would also be good choices.

I agree with the above, a 4L80E is the smart choice. Buy a used stocker and throw it in. No mods needed at that power level. Converter is expensive though.

If its an autox warrior, focus on less weight and simplicity. (like the combo above)

Not to hijack but I have the same question. I have a Incon stage III twin turbo kit. I can get my hands on a 5.3 for $300 or should I hold out for a 6.0?
