When is an oil cooler needed?

For you procharger guys, is an oil cooler necassary or should I spend my time and effort somewhere else? I am building a F1C with a FMIC on a 402 LQ9. I plan to run 12-14psi and get 800whp out of it and be able to daily drive it.

if your oil temps are above 280 you need one.
I try to keep my oil temps around 230ish

I've been wondering this myself. When I pull my stock short block and put the built ls2 in I was considering installing a oil-cooler while I was at it. I

You can NEVER go wrong adding an oil cooler.

So either way I would have to invest in a way to get a temp sensor in the oil. http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...Store_Code=LPE what I was looking at for the adaptor, and http://www.holley.com/22500ERL.asp for the heat exchanger.
