Default Waiting Part II

Key things to get done before North vs. South Shoutout, June 19th.

-Alston upgrades 6 pt to 10 pt, installs window net too. Status? Not done yet.

-FAST sends me Crank Signal Decoder box, PnP deal for the FAST bank/bank ECU. Status? I have not received it.

Plenty of time John, tic toc tic toc.

Once you have the Captain Crunch Decoder Box (sorry couldnt resist) your car will run off the FAST alone correct? Will it run off wideband sensors, or will you have to enter values like in edit? If it is off wideband, I assume you can set idle, PT and WOT at different AFRs, and can you also do different AFRs for different rpms, so you could run rich for peak torque and leaner for peak HP?
Any site with literature on using the FAST, like all the edit sites?

Thanks.

Charlie

Tired of waiting for a AUTOMOTION Steel ATI bracket that "will be going out 2 day fed ex" from Colorado to New Mexico and haven't got it yet
I guess it was sent to the east coast first, then back my way. 25 bucks for shipping whatta joke.

Yeah...It sucks....Looks like the turbo is pretty much done, just waiting on the turbo headers and Y-pipe. Once we get that it's a matter of putting together the jigsaw puzzle. Any day (week-month-year) now...

FAST works currently with the Cartek crank box, but with that solution, which was very creative on the part of Cartek, I can use the FAST to control fuel but not timing.

To run timing thru the FAST I need the Edist box, and to use that I need a crank solution. I need either a crank trigger setup or the FAST captain crunch box.

Reason I need a new solution is that I am getting erratic signals now from the current crank solution so we don't want to beat on the car until we have consistent rpm readings.

I already use the FAST w/b to adjust A/F. I already use a 3 bar map sensor (gm part) to read boost for the FAST.

Once I get the FAST red rider box I can remove the pcm and the engine control harness.

Gosh it's almost April.

Will be nice to see you finish this one. What signifigance does the MAP reference have as far as the FAST? Does it measure boost and further retard timing, add fuel??

Why don't you just run a MSD crank trigger?

Waiting on a friend to let me come to his shop to get my car finished up.....

Then off to the dyno.........

I got my idler pulley machined down on both sides, so there are no more clearance issues, also had the crank bolt cut 3 threads......

Just waiting now......

I don't want to run a crank trigger that's not in the spirit of what I am doing with the car.

Why not, LS1's have one stock, it's just internal.

The crank trigger idea is a pain in the ***. With the factory wheel signal converted to a 4x the FAST ECU recognizes, theres little chance for error. Its all internal just like stock. The crank trigger wheel would have to be true to .060, plus custom mounting for both the wheel and the pickup. Definately worth the wait. Just stop calling it a decoder box... that sounds kinda fruity

Isn't 'whistler' code in the gay community for gays in Florida (we are now even LOL).

Only way I would do a MSD crank trigger is if I trailered the car to W2W and I have no time off available to do that for the next 6 weeks.
