Got my Daily into the 9's Build Thread Big thanks to don aka Slowhawk Performance for helping me out big time! Long story short i had a black 99 T/A that was my Daily with a turbocharged Lq4 , stock ported 317 heads and nitrous cam. it ran 10.50's weighing 3860 without me in it. last winter i got T-Boned so i gutted it and bought a donor. Plan was , lighter , faster , stronger. It is an 01 SOM Firebird , Ebony cloth manual interior, and a hardtop. I wanted the lightest possible Platform. Over the winter i built this car in house at Slowhawk , Because i work there. I worked VERY VERY hard to keep this car my Daily. Its easy to go fast, gutting cars and putting parts in them looking for power and losing drive-ability but that was unacceptable for this car. I Daily drive this car, 45 miles to work and back everyday 7 days a week. Drive it to the track 115 miles from my house and back, 3.25's and OD are great :) Slowhawk Performance tune ls2 402 stock ported heads Very mild Comp Cam , custom grind spec'd by slowhawk stock 4l80e with a HD2 shift kit Turbo kit was salvaged from the black car Tv7401 Garret 71mm turbo 3.25 gears in a Fab 9 midwest chassis rear. Full 100% stock interior , only added the 6 point wolfe cage. Car made 680/650 on slowhawks mustang dyno. weighs 3610 with me in it. http://i476.photobucket.com/albums/r...031/IMG376.jpg http://i476.photobucket.com/albums/r...1/IMG384-1.jpg Drove it to NED to make my first shakedown pass just to see where i stood 93 octane only and 11 psi ...........well ... 1.71 60ft 6.40 1/8 117 mph 9.80 1/4 144 mph video http://i476.photobucket.com/albums/r...1/th_036-1.jpg Dyno http://youtu.be/wchNTy3RM-c Don Fab'd the hotside, Spec'd the cam, gave me vital insight and kept me from using used parts as much as he could lol. I built the motor from scratch, and did all the chassis fab work and everything else. Heres the humble beginings.............. |

Ya it was on 11 lbs , off the foot break. I could turn up the boost but the 71mm is running out of air already, and i could use the 2step for a better 60ft but crap, 9.80s and DD'ing it is fine with me. Just leaves room for grudge racing if i ever need to go faster lol. just 60 ft it and let out |

might not hurt to try it just for 60 foot purposes... tat way you know just what your should do... gotta figure a tenth in the 60 is 2 tenths in the quarter... just 60 ft it and let out |
Congrats on the low et. That frame rail looks so thin. Car came out awesome though. Nice work. |
Yes it is but trust me, that sucker is strong and supported. Over 2,000 miles on some crappy roads. All good. |
MPH is def. there. I went 5.85 (albeit in a fox body) @ 118mph |
Car definitely came out great with alot left in it. Alot of budget parts like a used crank/rods/pistons/block, slightly ported stock truck heads, stock 4L80 with a shift kit ect, ect. For 1/4 mile times. The time above is pretty much a joke. Straight 93 octain, no stalling and technically just a test pass like it would hook/run on the street. Car can easilly hit high 8's with some gas, boost and ussing the 2-step. Now just need to paint the hood..:judge: |
Sweet ride! And awesome getting in the 9's! |
