6.0 turbo build help and ?
Im looking to do a 6L build and wanna know what works everytime. Im basically wanting to do a turbo build and wanna know what heads will work better and why?
I Know of people running stock 317 heads and pulling over 700 rwhp and others who have them ported. Then there are users of 799 heads that claim the same. Which will be better and why?
What intake is recommended and can a stock cube 6L with h/c/i single turbo on a th400/brake make 8s?
How much power is needed and what are the parts needed?
This is NOT me asking how much $ to do it. BUt what parts are needed what is the way to do it?
thanks

IM trying to determine whether I want to leave the stock crank and just swap out rods and pistons. Then have a 370 and possibly a 76mm turbo OR go to a 408 with a 76mm
The thing is as well what is the stock CC of both heads? 317/799

I would say a 76mm be too small on a 408. Mines is pushing it on a 6.0.
Head wise..
The amount of power you "can" make is dictated by the amount of air the turbo will flow. The amount of power you "want" to make is dictated by how much your engine can withstand. The heads you use dictate the efficiency of the power you make.
700rwhp... stock untouched 317's will work just fine.... valve springs upgraded of course. Stock 799's would work also. Stock any heads will work.
Mines a stock cubed 6.0 (bored .030 but doesnt mean much). Im limited to what my turbo makes... It might have an 8.99 in it. Mine ran 9.67 on 18psi launching easy. Stock untouched 317's. I just put a different set of heads on that I ported, that along with the transbrake and slicks I be close...also if my car wasnt a tank it would be easy.
I have the Speed Inc TU1 cam and a vic jr intake.

very nice on what you said.. YOur a smart man
Well right now I have a 76mm turbo kit that I was gonna use for a different build so I can atleast start there and go larger if needed.
I was thinking of going with a set of cnc ported 799 heads that flow 300cfm. They will definitely be better than stock and they have 65cc right now.
I was thinking of just keeping the stock crank and throw in a set of rods and pistons for boost.
Whats everyone recommend for rods/ bolts
pistons and arp main bolts?
part number would be useful

It's attack of the 6.0 builds
What is the race weight? A good 6.0/76mm combo will make enough beans to go 8's but if the car is heavy you will really have to push it. You would need a big 76 like the GT76/94, or S476R/92 or 96 and spin it hard. A S480 or PT88 should get you there easier.
Time in my sig is with 6.0L ported 317's, Isky 212, and GT76.

Well my car will be under 3200 lbs with me driving. So weight wont be a factor.
The other thing is right now I have a turbo kit with a 76mm turbo so if I dont have to sell it and upgrade YET I wont.
But I wanna know if a 370 forged engine will do it or go bigger?
317 or 799 heads?
what intake system? fast 102, ls6?

The 370 makes a great boost motor. You can get in one good to 800HP for as little as $2699.
I would run the 317's and port them, Nice big chamber to go with the larger bore.
You will have less restriction with the 102 but will probably not be any more power limited with the LS6 than you will with the 102. I am sure I will have people argue this but all I mean by it is in the big picture there will be little difference in a boosted app.
