Default Head bolts or head studs??

Im doing a somewhat budget build on a motor. It will be a 370 with a D1 with a 3.4 pully so it will be seeing some boost. Maybe 16-17# I would think? Anyways, im debating on head studs or head bolts. Im trying to save money where I can but I dont want to save $150 somewhere to regret it later if you know what I mean. That being said, will arp head bolts work or do I need to stud it and why? I like the idea of haveing bolts for the rare instance of being able to take the heads off with motor in the car if need be. Other than that, its just about the money.Im not sure what the combo will make but I would assume 750 wouldnt be out of the question. Heads will be 317's.

Studs have a much better clamping load on the head. You can still remove the heads. Worst case scenario, you have to unscrew the studs by hand after you remove the nut. Takes an extra 10 minutes....

Studs.

(boost depends on cam and several other factors as well such as RPM, elevation)
More so, is the crank pulley size... if your using a 7" or 7.4", 17 is not going to happen. Probably require 8+ inch custom

Haven't ran the bolts but i've heard of 3 people in the past 2 mos snaping them off while torquing. I've got a set here that are going back for studs...

Ive not used the studs yet, but wish i was...

Ive used bolts in both the GTO and the Mustang now, torqued to 90ft/lbs.

But the truth is the truth, studs clamp better.

Very satisfied with the ARP head studs. They are worth their price alone for the fact of, that you can reuse them over and over. I just consider an 100% necessary part for building any FI LS motor.

Why do people always think studs are harder to take out over bolts in car?

They are easier IMO

Bolts suck

They have a torque spec that is given by ARP as 80ftlbs. Same torque sequence though. I always do 85 though for torque wrench innacuracies and for safe measure.
