Need opinions ASAP please.

I sheered all the teeth off my pinion gear again so i picked up a set of 3.42s for my car. Do you guys think that gear will work ok with my setup or is it gonna be a dog on the street? i'm running 4.11s now and first gear is pointless to even use. But the gearing is perfect on the highway. i used 3.73s previously but at 65mph 6th gear luged the motor and 5th gear the RPMs were to high for decent milage ( like 3000rpm ) so i figured 3.42s should work fine but now i'm having second thoughts.

I think the lower gear works even better since you probably peak at 6200 rpms or lower.

You'll pick up mph in the 1/4 with a higher (numerically lower) gear. Turbos don't seem to need much gear, as they have huge mid-range torque. With an A4, try a stock 3.42, and with an M6, maybe try a 3.73 at the most...

Cool, thanks guys. I was also thinking that with the larger pinion gear on the 3.42 i might not bust the teeth off it quite as fast.

Go with the 3.42, I think that's the best gear for a turbo street car. Anything lower (3.73 or 4.11) would make 1st ,2nd and 3rd useless.
