Looks good scottie!

So what are the honest opinions going from the 2jz to the ls? What kind of changes did you notice the most?

No simple answers for the questions. For those unaware, the car until recently had a 2JZ which was carried over from a 2nd-gen RX7 that I crashed. I tried to reuse the PTC converter from the 2JZ that worked great with the small displacement, high-RPM engine but not at all with the somewhat stock 6.0L. It was like a light switch. I had the 2-step set to 4,000 and could easily see 4,500 part-throttle before I even hit the t-brake. On launch, the engine would rocket quickly to 5,600+ and annihilate the tires, only drop 750 on the shift (1.80 glide) and slip 16-17%. When the car ran 9.3, I just rolled it out soft with a 1.49 and 6.062 @ 118.55 at the 1/8-mile. For the most part I have discounted the timeslips except for the MPH to gauge how much power it was making.

As for the 2JZ comparison, probably not fair at this stage as I had the 2JZ dialed in and have not pushed the 6.0L yet, plus it had the wrong converter. At this point, the 2JZ was way stronger on the big-end trapping 127.38 at the 1/8-mile the night I crashed, and that with just a 76GTS turbo.

As for the TU1 cam, I have heard engines on the Internet sounding choppy with it, but mine is not. My engine idles best around 950 and ~47kPa with 160# hi-Zs and E85. The new PTC conveter is installed but I have not driven the car yet. However, I did test the spoolup on the t-brake in the garage and it looks like PTC nailed it. With an imaginary tree, I "pre-staged" at 3,000 on the foot-brake, went full-throttle on the t-brake and it hit the 2-step before the "3rd yellow" with no drama. I think any racer with an imagination can envision that BTW, I had the MS3X configured to pull 7* timing @ 3700 while on the 2-step, so I can play with that to affect spoolup but looks like I won't need to mess with it though.

Not a big 1/8-mile guy, but while waiting for the 1/4-mile track to reopen, I decided to take the car to the 1/8-mile track to work on the launch with the new converter and MT Pros and tweak the tune for the Pro-Flo. On only the 2nd pass with 15.5psi and a soft 5.5psi/4000 RPMs launch, I got rewarded with this.

Was being somewhat conservative with the launch but feel I can eek another $.10 off that 60'. I quit after after the 2nd pass because it was a IHRA points with lots of cars and they got behind schedule.

Still stock c.i. Have not weighed it recently but based on the last weight and changes since, I would estimate 3,080# w/me.

Having just suffered through that, I would highly recommend you contact Dusty Bradford, (256)303-5387 and talk to him about your issues and let him spec out the right PTC converter for you. You will be amazed how much different it makes having the right converter.

First need to apologize for a mistake I made when I posted about the 1/8-mile pass. I said it was 15.5psi but made a mistake on the kPa-PSI conversion and it was actually 20psi, not 15.5.

Tried some iridiums 2 weeks ago and the engine went flat at full boost and i screwed up my tune trying to make them work and did not save a copy. Sunday I put the BR7EFs back in, turned the boost down and started over and ran 9.1 @ 153.35 with 15psi but the WP crapped out on me. Tonight on the 1st pass with a 7psi/4,200 launch and 17psi, I got these results.

Tried a 2nd pass with 8psi launch and 18psi but spun a little and lost the belt at half-track and saw 262*F as I turned onto the return road. It got real hot real fast as I turn the fan off above 90% TPS. I start pulling lots of timing when the coolant temp hits 220*F and above, so that probably hurt the timeslip a little. Ran 8.889 @ 154.79. Need to find out what's going with the belt as that's the 2nd time I lost it at the track. Still want to improve the 60' and should run a good number when I got to 20+psi.

I have never cared for iridiums...many issues in my opinion. Misfires, fouling, and blow out. Call me old fashioned, but I like good old copper plugs. Congrats on the new times!
