how much boost can a stock ls1 handle
its gunna take more parts or some compromises on your stand with all stock stuff, some things might have to get swapped out, or ultimately i think the price paid and the horsepower gained might not be worth it, if you understand what i am saying
unless you want a turbo just because it makes turbo noises.
some people are like that too lol
How much power do you want to make and how long do
you want it to last? That is the question.
Stock LS rods are the weak link. If the tune up is spot on it will last for a while @ 500-600rwhp UNDER 6500rpm.
I've pushed 800rwhp using an older style LS rod.......but it was short lived.
I'm building my own turbo. I'm using a Cummins turbo diesel. The hx35w I'm going to use a external waste gate with no intercoler. What do u guys think

This is my friends 99 FRC, stock ls1 with a tti kit on it. This is not a friendly dyno either. He went 10.5x @ 141 Saturday night. It has around 80k miles on it.

if you want it to last, 6psi, a really good tune, and nice and rich or in the safe zone with fueling and spark. Don't dump the clutch and don't beat on it bad, or else those factory parts won't last.
if you keep it a fun daily driver and put some good parts with that rear mount it will last.

You can push 7-9 psi safely with these 2 components and be closer to 500-550 rwhp.... my opinion.
Fuel... if you do the Racetronix Hot Wire kit, you may be ok on fuel, but should replace injectors with 60lb injectors.
786 rwhp, stock bottom end. Car ran like that for months before he tore it down to build a fuel system (snowballed from there
)We were running out of fuel up top, so its likely the early shifts that kept it together that long, rarely if ever saw anything past 6000 RPM.

im in the same boat as you, i got a decent deal on a brand new full sts kit. i was just going to bolt on and go, but after reading quite a few build threads im finding that stock parts only last so long. i put the project on hold and started collecting parts. i picked up a set of 317 heads, intercooler, piping, now im starting to look into internal parts. if you can spend more and build the motor i think you'll be better in the long run.
at the least get fuel injectors, fuel pump and rewire kit, spark plugs, and make sure your tuner is familiar with turbo'd ls1's
