One of my employees has a 427LME motor with afr heads and an APS kit in an 02 formula. We went 5.30@131 with a 1.24 60ft @ 3215lbs.

It makes boost instantly. We left on 12psi and ramped it to 22psi in .6 seconds. The turbos were done with that many cubic inches but it still runs the same today. Had 2 seasons on it so far with no problems. The turbos are the APS upgraded ones (Still not as good as like a gt35r) with no filters. Has a glide with 3.73 gears

When you say upgraded turbos. Which ones does he have I only knew of 4 turbos distributed by APS that would work on there manifolds. I am not all over there turbos, but thought with the F-bodies that you could only get the 20's and then there were a few that ordered the GT35 upgrade like LMR did on a couple of vehicles. Other than that you had to get LG or one of the other co. to build/modify the turbo's on the cars which usually meant just reusing the exhaust housing which were real small etc... But either way I wouldn't use the little 20's on a 427 JMO though. I'm sure there are going to be people that ultimatlely do what ever they want and it sometimes works out for them etc...

Jeff, I think these are the turbos, they were available instead of the base turbos at some point-

Yeah thats the GT35 upgrade they talked about of something simular to the GT35's but maybe not a real one etc... I dont think they never sold anything other than the 35's that I know of. But it he is looking for a turbo that he can buy RIGHT NOW. Well DKT offers several options with the 1.06 exhaust housings. I'm currently running the DKT 67/66's on my 427.

They are the APS upgraded turbos that came in the "Extreme" kit. I guess you could call it a GT35 upgrade, but they are not GT35s.
On a bright note, the bigger turbos from APS seem to avoid the issues the smaller ones have.

Yeah but from what I remember no one jumped on the upgrade band wagon. I know that LMR did a few cars with the "Extreme kit" and they labeled them as GT35's is why I guess that is what sticks in my head. But it doesn't matter as there definately wasn't a lot of those kits sold or around so the OP options are limited. So back to my original recomendation about his 20's I wouldn't do a 427 on it. For that I would buy something else like the DKT stuff or something custom with more air flow capabilities.

The aftermarket turbo mods... seem kinda steep. Might be better to just do some new bb, higher end units.

Well if your set on doing a 427 with the APS kit you have only one option when getting new turbo's and thats the DKT upgraded precision turbo's. But if your talking about a custom kit well yeah thats pricey. Although the turbo's aren't cheap they are considerably cheaper then building a whole new kit etc... GL!

PTE 6766B is what 2110 for a new one. most shops list them for around 1900
DKT PTE6766B is like 4200 a set AND they bolt right on.

idk i thought they were a great option. still do. but they also have a 6262 and 6266. depedning on your goals the 6262 is a big step over anything APS had as an option
