Default Compressor wheel Question

Well I have a question for anyone who knows. This is on a Garrett BB turbo Anyways I sucked some crap into the compressor wheel and chipped it all up. I ordered a new wheel and replaced it then had it VSR balanced but when I went to put it back together I noticed as you go to the exducer side of the wheel the gap between the housing and wheel widened. So I looked up the part numbers and both wheels are the same trim, inducer, exducer ect but the tip height on the new one is 7.65mm and the original is 8.5mm. So anyone know what the heck is going to happen. Thanks

Bring it to a turbo rebuild shop and ask them. Diesel truck shops, turbo shops, turbo performance shops, etc. Only way to really know is have a pro check it out in person. You'll need it balanced again after you get it fixed.

Your turbo isnt going to work very well.

You need the correct wheel profile to match the volute profile.

Yeah, that 1mm gap will decrease the efficiency of the turbo greatly. You may need to get a different compressor cover.
