The 625 studs I had someone mention at a meet a while back, but since studs are reusable etc... I never checked into them etc...I am running the L19's on my TT ZO6 and have used them in the past on a couple of motors and the strength was equal to a 1/2" stud as far as the PSI that you tourqe them down to @100lbs. And when I mention the ARP2000 head studs, they are made from the ARP 2000 material and not the 8740 , same with the L19's. The ARP 2000 head studs were just slightly less strength wise, but been torquing those down to @90lbs. Those CA625's look like they are very promising and I would probably call ARP and check on them etc... GL!

I just have the regular ARP's and torqued them to a little under 80lbft.

In terms of strength, would this be fair ?

ARP
ARP2000
L19
CA625

other ?

You can run LS9 gaskets on 1/2" head studs and they will fit without much grief. That's what I did.

They must have changed them then since I tried as they didnt fit that back in 2011. Ended up with Cometic's at the time.

Don't think they have ever changed the LS9 from the 12mm head bolts they all have stock.

More likely someone sent you the wrong gaskets, and called them LS9 gaskets.

The bolt holes in an ls9 gasket have to be 12mm or larger to accomadate the factory 12mm head bolts.

No I don't think so. I was assyembling it at HKE and Erik had a lot of different gaskets, but pretty confident about them. But hey if they fit for you guys then it doesn't matter what happened to me really. I was just trying to help is all. GL!

I tell the other person over tq of head studs should not warp a head as long as the fastner is able to handle ther over tq and not get weaker.

The arp 625 plus I know sometime they get tq to 180-190 ft lbs on diesel trucks they are spec to tq to 150 and are i think a 1/2 stud. over all a very strong stud the threads in the block will be the weak link here i think.

The ones I used from Alper Motorsports, I went to 60lbs using ARP lube and on the small studs I went to 23lbs

I have used the Alper Motorsports Studs on about 10 Motors With No issues, I over tightend one stud, and the Aluminum pulled out before any stud issue

Normally yes. I guess if it's just a n/a build or not making a lot of power, 60lbft might hold ok.

But generally ARP's are 75-80lbft on these engines.

Even ARP studs have a tight fit.

Although why the hell the make a metric stud with imperial allen key fitment is very annoying.

Interesting thread.. good read.. will the ARP2000 pro series head stud kit fit Gen lll blocks such as the LS1 block? Curious between the differences of up to 03 blocks and 04 and up..
