Default Need help with WG and BOV size?

I'm in the process of gathering parts for my turbo build. Going to be running 317 heads, ls6 or similar cam, head studs, and stock bottom end with a truck manifold kit. Looking to make mid-500's since it's stock bottom end and not really wanting to tear it down unless something happens. I'll be running a on3 turbo 76mm with a .96 backside. I was thinking about a 44-46mm wastegate and a 50mm BOV, but honestly don't know if that's my best option or not. This will be my first turbo setup. Any insight would be great

A 44mm - 46mm waste gate will definitely get the job done if positioned properly. As far as a bov, I would do a RPS, which is 50mm and only about $100. It looks very similar to a Tial and works great.

Thanks! If I run a 44-46mm any idea on what spring I am going to have to run?

I just ordered a nice looking 60mm WG with multiple springs off eBay for $99 shipped I think it was. I can report back on the apparent quality if you like, OP. It will only be a physical inspection though, since I won't have it on the car until late spring at the very earliest.

Wastegate sizing depends on so many factors, it's really difficult to say what is going to be the minimum size necessary.

I'm also eyeballing some of those good looking TiAL 50mm BOV copies on eBay too. I hear they work great if you trim the spring down to give you the proper amount of pressure that you need. I really like TiAL (I think it's the best hands down) so I would like to buy the genuine stuff. But this is a LOW BUCK build for me this time, and if you use TiAL, it's not low buck any more! Lol...

I'm going with dual tial 38s. Shouldn't have a problem with boost control.

I'd start with a very light spring and then boost control it from there.

Yeah I'm not sure what level of boost ill need to hit md 500's since there are other factors that change that. I'm doing a budget build as well, but don't want to cheap out of the parts that could ruin the entire setup if they fail. I think I'm leaning toward a 44mm WG and a 50mm BOV, but need some advice before I pull the trigger

i would look into that $100 wg tjabo is talking about thats a pretty good price for a 60mm. you can never have too big of a wastegate. as long as your not trying to reach crazy low boost levels even a 38mm wg would work. a4ls2goat on here is running an emusa 38mm v band gate and hes able to get boost down to 8psi with a ebay gt45 wich is bigger than your turbo and they are $55 shipped. i have them too and they are nice pieces.

I really like the look of those EMUSA V-band 38mm WGs.

Here's basically what I have coming:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/External-POL...da6f37&vxp=mtr

Got it for $80 offer plus the $19 shipping. We shall see how well it operates when it arrives.

i have two tial 44mm gates and they work awsome i have them on a 10 psi spring and on the controller i can get 28 psi. and for a bov i have a tail 50mm bov and i love it im actually buying another 50mm tial bov.

but there is no need for a 60mm wg imo. i would go with a 44mm wg and a 50mm bov. i also heard the knock off tial bov are good too.

I think it's little chinese fellers, Lol...

Here's an example of a nice looking knockoff:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/50MM-ALUMINU...-/261058287633

And I just confirmed that they will in fact accept $50 shipped. I can let you know what it looks like when it comes in if you want.

Not personally, just all random accounts via the internet.... Only one way to know if there was any validity to them. I'll let you know.

I think I'm gonna go with the 50mm RPS bov. $99 on their website and seems like a good buy based on some reviews and info I found
