Water Pump and Aster Bracket Help
Water Pump and Aster Bracket Help I’m building a custom D1 setup for my 2000 SS. I recently bought a new Aster bracket from one of the board members and seem to have painted myself into a corner when it comes to the water pump. I understand that I’ll have to swap my LS1 pump for the LS2 style and move the pulley out a bit for belt alignment. I picked up a LS2 pump and tried to move the pulley out using a 3-jaw puller and even a custom made puller but have only managed to warp the pulley, this is a huge PITA.
Oh well, live and learn right? So I thought I’d just order the pump that I should have ordered in the first place that already has the pulley in the right location. But it turns out that the option isn’t available to me because I’ve already bought the Aster and that supplier only sells the pump if you are also buying the bracket.
So for those of you running the Aster, I’d like to hear if you’ve run across other pump/pulley options or if you’ve had any success relocating the LS2 pulley on your own.
I appreciate any suggestions.

I bought the pump separate, my buddy works at a shop and got me a good deal. I tried the 3 arm puller like you did but it wouldn't move. Luckily that same buddy works at a truck shop and had a bigger 3 arm puller for big rigs haha. It weighed more then the water pump but did the trick real easy. Try to find a bigger puller, might be able to rent one from a parts store.
