Turbo Sizing/cam selection Confusion
i have been reading a lot and doing searches for old posts adn all i seem to be doing is getting myself more and more confused.
what i am planning to do is prepare my 83 Z28 for a turbo'ed LS1 swap. i plan to keep the stock displacement, run pump gas, and swap the in lower compression pistons(thinking around 8.5:1). i would like to run around 8psi on the street and be able to turn it up to 12ish psi when i hit the digs, and 16psi when running 100octane.
the car is going to be light, most likely have a race weight below 3000lbs, i will be running a powerglide tranny with around a 4000-4400 stall.
i am planning to use aftermarket heads(patriots are the likely choice currently), LS6intake.
can anyone give me soem clear cut answers on how to go about choosing the correct cam and turbo so that i can shift the car around 6500rpm.
i am completely confused about how to read turbo flow charts and what makes for a good FI cam.
any help or links to help are appreciated.
