Default H/C setup or ATI Procharger?

Hey guys! I probably won't be doing this till about a year so from now, but I wanted your guy's opinions. I have a 2001 Trans Am WS6 M6 with Jet Hot LTs, Jet Hot catted Y pipe, GMMG Catback and LS1 motorsports air lid. For some reason its not fast enough , so I was thinking of maybe putting a ATI Procharger on it. Now my question is, how reliable are these? This will be a daily driver. How much power could I safely get out it, and what all would I have to do to run it safely? Would a heads and cam setup be better for what I'm looking for? Thanks for your help guys!

I went through the same debate before getting my blower.... I believe a blower is alot more streetable than heads/cam... And just the sound of the blower makes your car stand out like so much.... The ATI kit is proven over and over to be a realiable kit.... I put down 480rwhp and 450tq with 8lbs of boost... They just came out with the 8rib kit now to solve the belt slippage issue...

It depends, if you are going to drag race your car a lot I would go heads/cam. You will save 80lbs off your front end and be able to use the extra money to buy a good rear end and clutch..

If you just want something close to 500rwhp that you can cruise around and play out on the street/highway with and is very easy to put the car back to stock the ATI is a nice setup. A new ATI will set you back ~2K more then heads/cam after tuning, all depends what your are looking for..

Any belt slip on your motor with just 8 pounds of boost? I'm in the same boat (there's plenty of us in it) but I've heard even the 8 rib setup isn't great. ASP's cog setup seems to be the *****, but they haven't worked all the bugs out of that yet either.

I'm not sure whether I want to build a 409 for the D1SC, or just go with what I've got. It's a street car, that is basically going to be setup for hard driving on the street and sometimes at the track.

Well see my sig for set-up! Daily driven and it runs great! Makes 519rwhp and 504rwtq! It has a little cam (214/224) and some stage 2 heads with a forged shot block and P-1SC Procharger.

The first two weeks i was seeing 8lbs of boost...Now i see only 5-6lbs normally... But i haven't tighten my pulley since it broke in...Also i heard the gator back belts are suspose to help alot... I"m going to tighten the belt down a little more and if i still have problems i'm going to try the gator belt....
