Why does forced induction cost more than the engine?
That seems completely backwards. The engine is a LOT more complex, from both a mechanical and an engineering perspective.
An LS376/480 is only $6800
Small block engines are even cheaper.
Somebody hasn't taken Business 101......
Supply and demand. There are 1,000's of times more engines then there are FI systems. Therefore each unit is cheaper to produce. There's also the "****" factor. If its something people are salivating over to own....the manufacturer will always charge more and then they will make more profit.
Does anyone really think a Mclaren or a Veyron is worth $1 million dollars......well, maybe a moron does. Its just that they know there's enough rich people that don't care and they will sell them. Hence, the " ****" factor.

How many supercharger kits are made for a 5th gen each year? A few hundred?
All race stuff, needs rebuild every year with rings and bearings.
My J/Y 5.3 with a PT7675 is at 750 HP and only cost $5,600 to BUILD.
Has been a year, no issues AND runs on pump gas.
FYI, I sold the SBC last year and lost my *** on it.
