exhaust piping for sts need help
exhaust piping for sts need help i have long tube headers and x pipe, buying a sts kit for a really good deal im switching back to stock manifolds and exhaust. i have manifolds but i dont have the rest of the stock exhaust so if i get it fitted and installed by a exhaust shop. does the type of piping matter, what size shoud i go with, its the the y pipe and the single pipe from y pipe to turbo.

Stock Y and 3" I pipe will yield good results. The key for an STS exhaust is heat retention. When I had the STS on my car I wrapped both the Y and I pipes with DEI heat wrap. The wrap makes a huge difference.

I am running the exhaust manifolds off of a 2000-2002 fbody which flow better than the 1998's. I still have the "squashed" stock y-pipe in situ, but am looking at buying a Mac Off Road Y-pipe that would bolt up directly to my exhaust manifold flanges. I then have a 3" exhaust that runs to my GT-67 ballbearing STS turbo.
I am in the process of looking to replace that as well. Get some decent exhaust manifolds, y-pipe and 3" exhaust...make sure there are no leaks when you put it together (often times there will be little ones)...and you'll be good to go.
