Turbo Clearances
Turbo Clearances Some how i mocked up my hot side and everything fit well, so welded it up solid and mounted it up last night, Now the turbo is very close to the radiator, about 1/8" away from it.
How much clearance do i need from everything? The turbine side is fine, its just fitting in this large compressor with a stock radiator is getting tricky. I have lowered it about as much as i can now. I think i will have to take my cross over off and take a pie cut out and angle the flange towards the engine, but there is only about 5/8" clearance between water pump pulley and the compressor housing.....
Is it time for a smaller compressor housing?

It might rub the radiator fins a little if the engine torques much. I have poly mounts on the engine and transmission, so i would hope it doesn't move much. The car isn't running at the moment, so can't really check it....
Can you fit a turbo blanket over the turbine? If so you're golden. I was able to actually touch the blanket on my single 76. Did an amazing job of keeping things cool. With 1/8 inch clearance you MAY be able to jam one in there.
