Questions about 5.3 build
Questions about 5.3 build Hello all, I tried searching but wasn't finding any clear answers
I want to build a 5.3 turbo motor. I currently have a running 02 ls1 engine. I will be replacing/adding rod bolts, bearings, head studs, valve springs, oil pump, pushrods.
so questions are:
1. Should I keep the 5.3 heads on or use my 241 heads
2. Run the stock 5.3 cam or stock ls1 cam
3. Are one of the rods better than the other
4. Should a use my ls6 intake or sell it and buy an ls1 intake and put that money into something else

pump gas 241. e85 706,
just keep the intake ou already have it.
5.7 cam will be a touch better but a complete 5.7 is worth more then parts and pieces.

^ thank you. That's exactly what I need. I don't have easy access to e85 so I'll use the 241s and sell the original 5.3's.
Anyone have a ballpark idea what I could sell a 02 ls1 block with stock rotating assembly for? 115K miles. It'll be listed in Ohio if that makes a difference
