it seems like i have a little more lag compared to what other guys seem to say about their set ups. I used 3'' tubing to build my turbo hotside from the manifolds to the flange. Would this be the culprit? I know most use 2.5'' but had the flanges and piping laying around. MY setup is 5.3 with a z06 cam, tc78 journalbearing through a t56 and 8.8. starts spooling around 3500ish but makes full boost right around 4k. I also used 3'' tubing on my cold side. hotside is wrapped minus the turbo.
Way too big unless it's a single log. 2 1/4 is plenty for that turbo. The cam isn't helping either. If you step down the pipe and change cam, or at least advance it you will notice a big difference. Tune has a lot to do with things as well.
yea i do need an update on my tune. running the one that was originally for my 6.0 that i blew up lol. runs damn good on it but i tweaked a few things with my hptuners. I plan on putting a tu1 in there so when i do that i ll redo my hotside since its coming off anyway. i figured i d left stuff on the table but didnt want to be without my car this summer.

Don't step down the cam size, especially to something like a truck cam. Losing 1200 rpm up top where most of the power is made isn't worth gaining 200 rpm of faster spool. Z06 cam is a fairly small cam to begin with.
You can step down on the hot side piping size, and change your tune. Lean out the mixture before boost comes on to help generate extra heat for faster spool. Timing also plays a big part in spool, as can several other things such as gearing and what you're using to control your waste gate.
I wouldn't step cam down either just change it up a bit. Times in sig were with a 212@.050 cam and 76 mm turbo at 4850 lbs. Spools quick enough to run a pro tree off the foot brake. Doesn't take as much cam as you would think to get things done.
