Default Boost-A-Pump Warning!!

A warning re: Boost-A-Pump fuses.

Altho my case may be a rare exception with a 3000W+ Stereo system, a voltage fluctuation caused my B-A-P Fuse to blow. Looks like they are using a smaller fuse than you might want. 20 Amp.

Not sure exactly what caused it to pop, but we found it and fixed it. Unfortunately the day after fixing, I blew a head gasket. I believe the B-A-P fuse failing at 6000rpm and shutting off my fuel pump caused a lean condition detonating and damaging the headgasket.

This is a non-blown motor right now. Imagine if you were under boost and this happened! I've heard of this happening to others. I was only at 12v when this happened. I am hearing the unit can draw up to 30 Amps by it's spec. So... if this item is underfused it could really damage your motor if it goes out.

Anyone have any details on the proper fuse setup? I may just switch to a 25A or 30A fuse.

This happened to my stock motor and my forged is sitting ready, so it's not a big deal. I'm just glad I found this weak point now and can increase the fuse setup.

I did upgrade the alternator to address the stereo issues.

I think I have a bigger fuse in mine. also, right NOW, if you put your hand around the fuse section, it gets very warm. I am thinking about cutting it out and splicing in a new fuse holder. I have the 40 amp 2 pump version.

I need to find the specs on my existing BAP.
20 Amp seems low low.

Think there are 2 fuse sections
1 near the Alternator and another on a red wire exiting the BAP itself which is mounted in my driver rear wheel well.

I have a C5 BAP/Racetronix hybrid from A&A.

Looks like Kenne-Bell has **** for Technical Support.

Guess I'll just swap out to 30 Amp fuses.
