fuel system info 5.3 turbo
I have a new factory tank that i plan on adding a sump to what size inlet/ outlet size would be recommended as well as fuel line size?
i plan on running it to the limit and possibly doing additional changes over time so don't want to have to upgrade in future.
what would be the recommend fuel pump for this application walbro 255?
thanks for the help
Usually a 255 intank and some 60# injectors will do the job. Also depends what fuel will you be running, which I think pump gas correct?
As far as fuel line size goes I would say 8 for feed and like 6 for return.
A simple hobbs switch will allow this. My 2nd fuel pump kicks on at 4#'s of boost.
i'm looking to get in the 600's sometime i have not decided on single or twin turbos yet. so i will go with dual fuel pumps to be on safe side, anyone have the model number? Will i be able to install both of them in factory tank? I like the idea of having the second one kick in under boost. Also how many hp will the 60lb injectors support? yes pump gas is the plan.. I would possibly like to have an E85 tune as well if possible
Edit: This can help. http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx

The 60# injector limit will be based more upon your setup than a RWHP number. If your goal is 600 at the tires, you should be fine though. I did 614 RWHP and my 60# injectors were fine. However, the duty cycle was fairly high, and I just changed heads and should make more power and I had to step up to 80# injectors to keep it safe as the 60# injectors will now be too small (and I'll be making a lot less than 750 at the wheels).
Lots of guys on here like e85. Its a good safe fuel for a lot less than race gas. Personally, I like inter cooling and meth injection. Its even cheaper, and you can run it with just premium. It may not be an issue for you, but I drive my car a bit, and not everywhere around here sells e85, and the worse gas mileage you get with it means you'll be stopping for a fill up more often. I never liked the idea of taking it on a road trip and not being able to find somewhere that sells e85 when I need it.

I do get your point on gas mileage though. I'm seeing around 6 mpg with E85.

I have a new Buick Grand National fuel tank for it; however am thinking about running a 30 gallon fuel cell instead.
I'm going to do an intank Walbro 400lph and most likely a Bosch 044 external on a Hobbs switch. 120# injectors. -10AN feed.... -8AN return. If your intention is to run e85 from the get go.... then build up your fuel system to feed a healthy amount of ethanol.
also is it very hard to install 2 pumps in tank vs just 1?
I will start out with premium but may someday try using E85 as it is available all over my area
2 pumps isn't much harder to do than one. In your case, to convert and old style stock tank, your best best would be to cut an access door in the top of the tank around where the sender/pickup assembly goes in (PLEASE FILL THE TANK WITH WATER BEFORE CUTTING IT!). You can basically hose clamp the 2 pumps together and to the sending unit assembly (assuming it has the rod that protrudes down past the sender, most do) making sure the pickup socks are at the same height, and as close to the bottom as you can get them, but not quite touching it. then you can run the 2 outlets to a "Y" fitting and into the single supply line. Tie your ground wires together to a single wire out of the sending bulkhead to a secure spot. Then tie the hots together. unless you plan on running one pump normally and the second on a boost switch, then you will leave them separate.
If using e85 is even a consideration for you, make sure all the components you use, pump, filter, lines, o-rings etc are all compatible. Ethanol will soften and eat non compatible rubbers
Mototron (Siemens Dekka) injectors are top notch and will fit in the factory plugs (they come in both 60 and 80# sizes.
