Could he have a loose hose? Not falling off loose but loose enuff to "open" when it sees the original boost spike? If he is running the same setup as Rob then it would make you think it's not the kit configuration. I would deal with Rob thru PM. Posting here may get some useful tips but it will certainly attract a lot of unuseful ****.

Please only respond if you have advice. Im am VERY GLAD Rob is here to help me. Im sure it a combination of things. The basic fact is I do have almost an identical set-up to Robs and he is not having the problem so we should be able to figure it out even if I have to hook everything up identical to the way he has it.

Yes, a loose hose is a good possibility also. Might want to doublecheck everything.

FWIW, I literally just finished dyno tuning (at 3am) another bone stock motor'd car with our turbo kit, T-76Q, etc., and boost held dead flat from 4000-6000. On pump gas, it made 500rwhp/600rwtq with stock valve springs.

I'm pretty confident you've got something else going on causing your problem.

I bet the people that live around your shop just love you dynoing at 3am.

so is the problem fixed?

only bandaid i see available is to try an oversized exhaust housing, but your spool will suck.

edit, on second thought i do know what will help. move your wastegate to the crossover.

I am going to re-do all of my vacuum lines with some quality silicone vacuum lines(all the hoses are now autozone cheap windshield washer hose) and get the boost reference for the wastegate from the compressor instead of the back of the intake. I think part of the problem is that I was using the small hose from the back of manifold for 5 things: boost gauge, map sensor,BR fuel regulator,BOV and wastegate. Im going to tap into the brake booster hose for these.

Even with this all screwed up I ran a 11.51@126mph last night with a 2.01 60ft time on 8lbs of boost in my 4150lb raceweight convertible.

Once I get the hoses all swapped and re-routed I'll post on the results. Im also going to install a cutout in the downpipe for track use which hopefully will help with the backpressure.

Thanks

not really, im just offering suggestions to try to help... if they dont work.. fine i'm wrong.. been wrong before... but if they do.. i could tell the guy ahead of time that moving the vaccum lines wont help.. but i'll be open minded this time by all means try that too.

*edit, rufus pm me if you would like me to help, i'm not responding further here sorry. i know what will happen.*

Hey could it be tuning? I am thinking along the lines of...rpms go up to a point where your tuning is too rich and you start losing power/heat and the turbo slows. I was once so rich that I couldn't do a burnout after the waterbox but it was fine when not at WOT. I still think a loose hose or one with a split in it is your problem. just trying to throw out ideas. Still...126mph with 8 psi on 4100+ lbs is impressive

Don't move your WG signal to the compressor housing. If you do you'll definatly see a boost drop becase of the pressure drop from the intercooler.

I tapped the brake booster line with 1/2" ID hose and ran the 1/2" hose to two distribution blocks which feed all the items that need a boost signal. I also swapped all the boost hoses with high quality silicone hoses. The car now holds steady boost!!!
