Honestly a 3.42 or a 3.55 with a 4l80e would be ideal as a 3.08 gear is a TON of gear for turbo big block or nitrous big block to pull around let alone a small block no matter what size turbo is on it.

Compromises have to made though with street cars. I say TH400, 3.23 rear gear, 315/60 and cruise 70mph@2500rpm all day long.

You don't need such high gearing with a massive compressor like that. Inertial load really only helps compressors that are too small where they have to build a substantial amount of boost before being able to move a large amount of air efficiently. Relatively larger turbos can still move a lot of air without having much/any boost, so the high load/long gear requirement is unnecessary. Now if you're looking for something more highway friendly that doesn't spin the **** out of the engine to cruise at 75mph or you're out of gear at your desired redline before crossing the traps...then I can understand the higher final drive

If not mistaken he does have a 3.55 in it now.

My 3.08 is a great compromise for street driving and engine load. I like it.

Right now it has a 4.00 gear in it. But I already had plans to have different gear ratios all set up and ready to drop in it for whatever reason. Whether going on a long trip or if I was racing in an 1/8th mile vs 1/4 mile

Have you guys thought about building a tubular front end, and laying down the Radiator?

That's an idea for sure lol. He's having a custom radiator built to fit when we get to that point of installing it.

Got Collins turbo braced up this morning before work once he decided where he wanted it sitting lol. A custom radiator will be made for this setup so we are not really worried about fitment as much as we would be normally. There is still 6-7 inches between the bracing and the back of the bumper/intercooler. Lower factory radiator support is still going to be cut out.

David is making custom chromoly exhaust flanges since we don't have any for the y pipe.

I hope this is not off topic, but what did Work Turbochargers say when you found out that you did not have a S588 as he originally told you it was. I am just curious on how they handled the situation. He as well as our own Forcedinductions.com, was one of the companies I was looking at to purchase my turbo from. This could sway my decision. lol

Back on topic though, the build looks like it is coming along nicely! That 408ci + 88mm is going to pull like crazy!!! Can't wait to do the same with my car!

He bought it second hand from a guy that had bought it from Work. It was on a drag car before this I believe. Maybe been refreshed cause it looks new.

That is correct. I bought it from a guy that bought it off a drag car he sent it to the works and had it refreshed but hasn't done anything with it in over 2 years and then sold it to me. Once I called the works and told them what car it was on previously he told me exactly what turbo it was and everything about it. It's just the guy I bought it from wasnt very knowledgeable about the turbo that's been laying in his garage for 2 years.
