Default Switch to prime meth injection before WOT

Are you guys running some sort of prime switch on your meth kits? I'm running a devils own kit with there progressive controller. I'd would like to prime my system before a WOT pull to insure it's working correctly. I had a hick up on my setup that caused me to loose #7 cylinder. The car is still running and idling good no miss fire or weird noises. But need to take It apart n see what happened. Thanks

As far as I know you can't really "prime" these kits, other than setting the starting pressure really low so it's flowing before you get into the high boost. Mine it set to come on at 2psi and full at 10psi. You can also run an inline check valve that will hold some pressure in the line so it comes on a little faster. Not sure what kind of difference it makes.

It's easy to prime

Just install a switch to apply 12v directly to the pump as required. You'll see AFR's change if the system is injecting.

Thanks for the replies... Since one of my wire in my controller uses a ign 12v source do I hook up that switch down at the pump?

Yes you could run a 12v ignition based supply to a switch and then directly to the pump 12v wiring.

Easiest way is simply do this at the controller connector

So just T off the switch from my blue wire to a 12volt source correct? This how my controller is set up.

Just wire a switch between the red wire and blue wire ( assuming the red wire at the controller is a 12v supply )

That will simply power the pump when the switch is pressed. Just use a switch suitably rated for the current. Although as it would only be used for a second or two, even that isnt essential.

Ah I guess I misunderstood what you meant by prime. If you mean you just want to turn it on sooner than that can be done with a switch, but it negates the whole purpose of the progressive controller.

The reason for it's to make sure it's operating correctly instead of going WOT and seeing if it's working.... What happen to me is that I went a full throttle pass and the my controller milfunctioned and it cost me a damaged piston... It's a "test" switch.... So before every run or what ever event it is I will "prime" the system to insure it's working and all my lines are filled up. And it was my fault for the malfunctioning controller.

The alky control setup has a feature to turn the gain on the controller to max and push the test button. There is a red/green LED, it will be red while building pressure and turn green when the system is fully primed up to pressure. You want to be above 2000 rpm while doing this as you will be spraying methanol. I use this feature every time I drive the car to ensure everything is working properly.

My devils own progressive controller also has 3 LEDs to let me Know when there is power, when the pump is on and when it's at full spray... But it does not have a "test" feature. That's the reason why I want to ad a "test" switch to my system.

The aquamist setup has the pump running and keeping a constant 160psi, similar to your fuel pumps. So once the system is activated via injector duty cycle, you actually see the flow rate on the in dash display.

the issue the op is having is why my tuner suggested i not use meth injection and run e85 instead. i would have loved to do pump gas and meth, but dont want to dick with controllers/pumps/extra switches ect all the time.

Probably a wise decision, but not everyone has access to E85.

But most meth systems now are pretty reliable

Yup. I hit my test button on my Alky Control system before doing a pull.

I run E85 with meth and I need to. On a 116F Arizona day my IAT's are 200F without meth on a 4th gear pull. 4* of timing was being pulled. I went from 673/584 to 719/618 by adding the meth to drop my IAT's back down. I could probably do another couple degrees of timing, but I like to keep things conservative in the insane heat of Arizona.

Are those gains from back to back pulls at AZ dynochip?

No. AZ Dynochip for the no meth dyno and Extreme Performance in Goodyear for the meth dyno. Both runs on a Dynojet though. They also both had the same correction factor of 1.07 as well. 4* of difference in timing is where I got the extra power from.
