Need some advice... So I got a wild hair to build a 8 second 4th gen Camaro...
I bought a 5.3 and a S480. And the car will weigh in at 3,200 lbs. It will have a glide and a 9" while running on E85. This is a track only drag car and will never see the street.
While consulting with a friend of mine, he convinced me that it would be good insurance to install forged rods and pistons.
But... am I wasting my time/money tearing down the 5.3? Should I sell the complete 5.3 and start all over and build a 408? Are 8s "easy" to obtain with the setup I've mentioned above?
