Default Is a 98 ls1 block fine to run forced induction?

I've read a lot about the thinner sleeves in the 98's and just wondering if I'll be ok to run around 12 pounds or so with a forged bottem end. I was planning on stroking it, but I've kinda been gathering that it's not the best idea on a FI ls1, especially a 98. Has anyone had a problem with this? I know where I can easily get an lq4 block that I could build, but I really don't won't the iron block and have to relocate sensors, etc...

I'm on 800+rwhp on a stock ls1 motor with a cam. Heads never been off nor intake. 130000 miles on engine. 20 psi. Think with forged you be fine to turn it up higher than 12 psi.

Over 800 hp too. Why stroke it? No need IMO.

The 97/98 blocks are known for oil delivery problems but you can get around that, The passages that direct oil to the lifter galley need to be machined.

Pretty sure the cylinder walls are thinner or made of a weaker material on the early LS engines as they cant be bored as far as the later LS1's 3.903 vs 3.905( not much difference but there is a reason for this, you can get away with that to just make sure its not honed out passed 3.903. Cylinder walls should be sufficient for 12 psi. But you will probably get bored and turn it up more.

Personally I like the iron blocks as they can be rebuilt and punched out, and there stronger. If you are going to spend the money for a forged bottom end why not get a stronger block. The aluminum blocks are still pretty stout, there have been several on here that have pushed them over 1K HP.
