I'm looking at picking up a set of the weisco domed piston deal texas speed has going on. They come with weisco rings and they are the ones with the steel top ring. Is it really worth spending the money for total seals, or another when these have a steel top ring. What do you guys think? By the way this is a 408 lq4 gonna run 12 to 15 psi.

Why dome pistons? I thought dished was the way to go and just machine the heads to lower cr. Sorry to hijack, I was told that back when I first started that domed were better for n/a and nitro vs forced in. I m just curious

i'm in the same boat and I looked around. the Wiseco's have their funky 1.2 mm rings and your going to pay a good price to have total seals made for it. i'm just going to run the Wiseco rings, with a steel top ring they'll be plenty tough for any amount of boost.
Mass - it's always better to get your compression with the right pistons then take material out of a structure part of the motor. just like you want thick cylinder walls, you also want a thick deck.

I meant dished pistons not domed. I'm running a set of ported 317s so I'll have to figure out the right piston reliefs. I want to be around 8.5cr. I could spend the money for diamonds and total seals but everyone seems to like their weisco's.
