Default Big hp, boosted, 4l60e guys, enter!

I know this is a trans section question, but majority of these bottom 9sec and even 8sec 4l60e guys are boosted.

My question is simple, what trans fluid are you using?
Rossler recomends dexron 3, 5, mercon6. Synthetic ok.
I was looking at redlines high temp dexron 3 .

Have a Blessed awesome Christmas everyone!!!

Penzoil atf, it held up the best in testing my trans builder did. By testing I mean putting a power glide on the dyno and transbraking it for hours and field testing in his t/d and t/s cars. It holds up the best for burning and wear on internal parts. Pep boys is about the only place that has it in stock. Hard to find but you won't burn a trans down on it. I run my 4l60e over 220 all the time because of my converter and it looks like new every time he takes it apart. Good luck.

Why waste your time with a 60e when you can get an 80e used for a very reasonable price. IMO a car with a 60e is gonna blow up sooner rather than later. Unless an .80e physically won't fit, I will not waste my time with a 60e. Like said above best of luck.

Regular ole Valvoline brand Dexron/Mercon. $18 a gal at O Reilys. Keep the temps at <200* and most importantly, keep the level correct.

RPM 4l60Es will hold up.

regular dex/mercon 3 will get you to 266 degrees before it starts to break up. but for every 10 degrees it heats up it cuts the life of the fluid in half. Who built the trans?

The 60e transmissions have ran 8's but if you street drive the car for prolonged periods of time then I'd suggest an 80e swap. I went through so many clutch packs trying to keep the 60e happy and cool which was an uphill battle. If you are trailering the car to and from the track and only running it for 10 seconds and shutting it down then you would be fine with a built 60e. My 80e on the other hand has been a champ for street driving and track use. I drove my car to a half mile event, ran it hard including going into OD, and drove it home. I can't say I'd feel as confident with a 60e

I have an RPM 4l65E built for 800 at the tire and it's doing quite well.

slicks and high rpm launches or 4-3 downshifts on boost are hard on the trans so I've stayed with street tires.

had some initial trouble and added a nice B&M trans cooler with fan and the temps stay at 175 or less except on very hot days.

Contact Chuck at finish line transmissions.

I run his level 7 60e with a tbrake. Put about 8k miles on it and runs 9s with 850ish whp. Regular cheap dex 3.

He now has an updated 2-3 drum that is supposed to get rid of those clutches wearing out.

One of the best speed type of shop out there.

Just bought 4 gallons of redline high temp dex3 fluid. Time to let it roar!
