Default How high can I rev it

I currently have my rev limiter set at 6500 and things have been fine so far. I'm making about 670rwhp with 9.5 psi right at redline. My goal is 700RWHP and I think I can do it with a little more tuning.

I have stock lifters, pushrods, and rockers. The cam has pretty mild lobes 218/224 115.

I'm thinking about truning it up to 6800 and adding a tad more boost. Any thoughts on how high I can spin it. What is the first thing to let go from a high rev perspective?

I think Rapid Motorsports' new LS6 H/C 2002 SS M6 revs to 7200rpm but it has upgraded valvetrain. I wouldn't want to take the risk of spinning the motor that high with stock valvetrain.

6800 is a good number. See if the power keeps climbing anyway. Depending on your set-up you may not need to press it. My old set-up made peak power and torque around 5500-6000.

Hi Quick, you might first want to install heavy duty pushrods, they're only about $100 and easy to change. It's common for stock pushrods to bend, especially with higher lift and stronger springs.

with the 115 lsa you might not be making power up there, so no sense in reving it that high.
if it was me id only be reving it to 6500, and at least put some chromoly push rods in.

Stock pushrods?

I would upgrade those.

Well buzzing a stock bottom end to 7000 can result it in shortening it's life. I have seen the rod bolts stretch.

I have REV dual springs on it.

I've always thought of the pushrods as a good indicator of a problem. The stock ones are weak but it seems like they are a good indicator that something is wrong with the valvetrain geometry if they bend.

I'm going to a slightly smaller pulley before I turn up the RPMS. I'll see where that gets me and if I need a tad more I will spin it up to 6700. I find it really hard to stay off the rev limiter with this thing (the tach just can't keep up).
