it really depends on engine size, turbo size, & boost level. A small engine with a 106mm turbo and the boost setting to 5 psi you will need a ton of Gate. Go the other way, a 500" engine, with a 76mm turbo and boost at 30psi (if it was possible, lol) you would not even need a Gate for this setup as that engine will consume every bit that turbo can exhale. I myself love running the TiAL brand. I've had GREAT luck with them and they are very easy to repair as more shops carry that brands guts should you need to ever repair it. There are a few components that I don't really decide based on price, the wastegate is one of them.
As said before all of the gates mentioned in this thread are good, it just comes down to personal preference.

Basically, with wastegates, it all depends on what your using for a boost controller. Compressed air(AMS1000/2000)? or a standard electronic valve design(eboost or a simple manual).
Using compressed air? JGS(no diaphragm). WORKS AWESOME, and is lower priced then TiAL.
Not using compressed air? TiAL(uses diaphragm $50 bucks to replace) or whoever else your comfortable with.
I had turbosmart 38s, didn't do what I needed...I run MVR 44's now and work fine but, eventually, I will probably switch to JGS when I go to the AMS2000.
If you run LOW C02 pressure on the TiAL you may not tare or rip the diaphragm but we do sell a lot of them as replacements.
