help me decide on a turbo for my build I'm building 5.3 for my 86 trans am. And I just can't decide on a turbo.. looking to stay under $1k. So details on the build. Stock bottom end 5.3 fresh from the machine shop all new bearings, hone, rings and wash. Hand ported 317 heads. Holley high rise 92mm. Custom cam from Martin@ tick performance. Freak show 4k custom turbo stall and th400 with a trans brake and a quick time 9in rear with 3.50 gears.. car is a dedicated strip car and will be lightened as much as possible. I need something that will spool fast with the stall and launch controller/ transbrake. But still hold its own all the way down the track. So I don't plan on being in the lower rpms much I wouldn't think. I can't decide between a on3 performance t76, gt45, gt42 or the borg warner s400, s475,s480.. I just can't decide.. I'm new to turbos so please HELP!!!!
My suggestion would be to either call forced inductions or Jon over at Huron Speed. They can get you set up with the right turbo for your goals, price and set up. Jon at Huron Speed helped me out with my turbo choice and he now has my business for life. His customer service is number 1. I have over a 100 emails back and forth with him with advice and two turbo purchases from him.
