sounds like it is making power but I can hear it blowing thru the convertor on that video. even with valve springs you are giving up a lot of et with that convertor. i'll bet its almost 1/2 sec faster with a tighter convertor

Congrats, Thats pretty amazing on OE cam etc...

My 5.3 with a zr1 cam was pretty rev happy and it was dirt cheap. Used the PAC1218's and it would rev to 6800+ at 24psi (same turbo). I always wanted to see a ZR1 cam in a 4.8 reving to 7200 or so though. May not have to respec that converter if you rev it higher. You also give up a ton of low end with the ZR1 which I think helped with traction a bit on my setup.

I'm sure a custom cam like the tripple 12 mentioned wold be a great match as well. But it will cost more than your motor...

Yep, stock head bolts and gaskets. Stock everything...
Thanks for all the input. Im hoping the valve spring do the trick for now. Then I can say all stock except springs and push rods and trunions. But... that doenst have the same feel as ALL STOCK.
I only have to run a 6:20 to beat my friend from work in his big block nitrous car. Then I will be happy. I just wanted to beat him with a completely stock LS1 longblock. Mabe I should have left the 6.0 in it with less boost.

800whp is enough for high 5s in the 1/8th mile. Sure, you are making the peak power, but between the can and converter you aren't carrying it very well. Those two mods alone would grab you another 100 HP and knock over half a second off of you 1/8 mile ET (traction permitting)

the valvesprings will do the trick. my 4.8 revved cleanly to 7500 almost every shift.

btw, Ive seen your car in person. the pics posted here dont do the fabrication work any justice.

pretty cool, nice work-I always liked the Buicks, a buddy used to let me drive his turbo V6, it had a lot of work, normal driving it was great, wide open it was a monster, lol

My goal was to run faster than my old Turbo V6 with a stock Ls1 4.8. I almost did. The 4.8 finally went 6.5 @ 23 psi but the old v6 went 6.455. Although the 4.8 went 107 mph in the 1/8 and the V6 only went 105 so it looks like Im making more power anyways.

I ordered valve springs, trunion kit and push rods so I can rev it past 6k at 26 psi.

My question is has anyone DONE a turbo 4.8 if so what cam did you use.

ColtBoostin,That's cool so many people are making big numbers. It would be neat to see a dyno shoot out of stock LS1 engines because there is alot of variance from dyno to dyno having tuned a lot of cars on different dynos. Mine was dynoed on the "heart breaker" dyno. Aka Dyno Dynamins. I have always seen Dyno jet read high compared to Mustang or Dyno Dynamics. I have no doubt 1000 rwhp is possible on little more than valve train upgrades and a good tune. These LS motors are awesome. Now if GM could only make a big block version of the LS platform.
