Default 403 with 75/75 .96 billet wheel

Just some thoughts what do you guys think about a Turbonetics 75/75 .96 billet wheel on a 403 with CNC LS3 heads? I think the turbo going to be undersized for the engine, but I wanted to get some more input. I have two ways I can go with this build, I can build a 370 or a 403 with the parts I have. I would just need to buy the crank. Suggestions?

You'll choke a 403. Thats a small turbine.

plenty of 370's running similar sized turbo. Some will say its too small but depends on your goals as well. You should give as much information about the entire set up for more suggestions on this forum. I know the search feature blows but their are plenty of builds where members discuss engine size and what turbo and why. Finding them and reading the build thread is just time consuming.

FYI I'm running that exact turbo on a 5.3 in an 02 Camaro. Works very well on my setup.

Hey sorry I left it a little vague, I did try the search feature on here and I came up with nothing relevant that I could find. I just got 100+ posts about 403, turbo, and 75/75, nothing that paired the three together. The car is a 69 GTO, a driver and occasional track car. The intent is for 650 rwhp safely. I was only looking at running 10 psi with an intercooler. I have almost all of the parts I need to build both motors. I just dont have a crank or cam for the 403 yet.

This is what I have so far to build with.

Turbonetics hurricane 72/68 .86
Turbonetics billet wheel 75/75 .96

370 ci

821 WCCH stage 2 CNC heads with SS manley valves, PSI .660 behive springs
Mast VVT SS cam 230/237 .588/.607 111 LSA
Wiesco +.030 pistons teflon coated skits, -12 cc dish, cryogenic treated
SCAT H-beam rods with ARP 2000 bolts, cryogenic treated
Stock crank, ground, and cryo treated
ARP main/head studs
Cometic .040 head gaskets
Clevite coated H bearings , cryo treated

403 ci
821 Lingenfelter full CNC heads, SS valves, .660 Behive springs
no cam yet
Diamond +.010 pistons, teflon skirts, ceramic coated tops, cryo treated
Callies compstar H beam rods, ARP 2000 rod bolts, cryo treated
no crank yet
ARP head/main studs
Cometic .040 head gaskets
Clevite coated H-bearings, cryo treated


As I had said I just want a driver with a reliable setup that I can take to the track on occasion.

your turbine side will be your issue ... get it matched for the combo and either of those turbos will get you 650whp. Good Luck.

Go 370 and the 7575 for your goals. Personally Id build the 403 and run two of those 7268's.

I talked about doing twin 72s but I talked to the guys at Turbonetics and he told me it wouldnt be very responsive with twin 72s.
