Turbo Question My step son is looking at a 2008 Mazda Speed. 4 cylinder turbo. The car has that ridiculously annoying blow off valve that sounds like air brakes on a tractor trailer.
Does it get any more irritating….
Anyway, a few questions:
- Did the car (stock) actually come with this thing?? Hard to believe they would sell a car from the factor with one of these things. Is it normally added in as an after market item?
- Can it be removed (quieted down) without any issues? If so, how big of a project is that??
I'm clueless on these types of cars....

Most turbo cars from factory come with recirculating blow off valves so instead of venting to atmosphere they vent back into the intake side and are generally really quiet.

Yep, these guys are right on the money. All mazdaspeed cars have a recirculating type blow-off, all the air gets routed back in front of the turbo. Completely silent, if you want the aftermarket thing off, you'll need to put the stocker back on though.
