Default tc78 vs t7875 which turbo?

Car is listed in sig. Using a Huron Speed truck manifold setup. Engine is stock otherwise for now but hoping it will last until this winter when I would like to do a basic 5.3 setup with more boost. I am thinking 7875 would be the better choice and obviously would support more power. But is it worth the $500 difference in price?

Why not a 75/75?

Biggest reason is the price. That is even more expensive than the 7875 from what I can find.

I just switched from a tc76 (ball bearing) to a PT7675 CEA and the price difference is DEFINITELY worth it. With the tc76 the car made 585whp on 15psi and went 9.85@140, now with the PT7675 the car made 735 on 16psi and on 14psi it made 680 so even on 1psi less boost than the old turbo it still made over 100whp more, haven't got back to the track yet though. That larger exh wheel really helps to free up some power and spool is still instant, didn't notice any change in spool times and the new turbo is journal bearing.

How does the pt7675 compare to the 7875?

That I don't know. Regardless of what you do I would not waste your time with a tc series turbo, don't get me wrong they are good turbos but that 68mm exh wheel is a crutch and will hold you back, I never realized how much power I was leaving on the table until I switched over to the PT7675.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Seems like I should go ahead and spend the extra now vs later

Definitely spend the little extra now, it will be WELL worth it, I sure wish I had done this the first time and I would have saved time and money re-doing it later.
