Default Ring Gap

Wanted to get some recommendations for ring gap...

Street/strip. Would like to turn the boost up quite a bit when racing.

5.3 (3.78 bore)
Trick flow 220's
wiseco pistons GFX rings
Lunati billet rods
S480 V3 billet wheel
LJMS cam
6spd

I gapped Wiseco piston/ring set at .026 top ring, .030 second ring. Second ring is gapped larger so as to prevent ring flutter. Currently going to spray it but possible big boost later.

Remember, your ring gap is a function of bore size...

The GFX ring set comes with a chart on the outside of its package for setting ring gap. If i remember correctly my GFX ring set was .0065 or .0070 x bore, for race turbo/blower ring gap.

follow the instructions that come with the rings...
they tell you exactly what to set them to based on bore size

Yes, ring gap is a function of bore size and the manufacturer makes recommendations but there are proven formulas from experienced boost engine builders as well that I trust for a build such as this. Ring gap will close quite a bit under big boost and I would rather err on the side of safe. Do your homework OP and make sure to talk some knowledgable boost engine builders.
